Jon Siddall was founder and Artistic Director of the Evergreen Club Gamelan Ensemble, Music Officer of The Canada Council, and later Music Producer for CBC Radio. His works have been released on CD (Artifact and CBC Records) and have been performed throughout Canada, the United States, and Indonesia.


As a guitarist, Siddall has performed as a guest with the Aventa Ensemble, the Evergreen Club, Fringe Percussion, and as a soloist.




Jon was featured on Fringe Percussion’s November 2012 program, “Remembrance: John Cage at 100.”

Aiyun Huang enjoys a musical life as soloist, chamber musician, conductor, producer, researcher, and teacher. She was the First Prize and the Audience Award winner at the 2002 Geneva International Music Competition. Her past highlights include performances at the Weill Recital Hall, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra’s Green Umbrella Series, LACMA Concert Series, Holland Festival, Victoria Hall in Geneva, Agora Festival in Paris, Banff Arts Festival, 7ème Biennale d’Art Contemporaine de Lyon, Vancouver New Music Festival, CBC Radio, La Jolla Summerfest, Scotia Festival, Cool Drummings, Montreal New Music Festival, Centro Nacional Di Las Artes in Mexico City, and National Concert Hall and Theater in Taipei.


Aiyun first performed with Fringe Percussion at the 2011 Vancouver New Music Festival, then joined the ensemble again as a guest artist in March 2013.

Bob Becker


Bob Becker holds the degrees Bachelor of Music with Distinction, and Master of Music (Performance and Literature) from the Eastman School of Music where he studied percussion with William G. Street and John H. Beck, and composition with Warren Benson and Aldo Provenzano. He later spent four years doing post-graduate study in the World Music program at Wesleyan University where he became intensely involved with the music cultures of North and South India, Africa, and Indonesia.


Becker co-founded the percussion group NEXUS in 1971 has been a regular member of the ensemble Steve Reich and Musicians since 1973. These ensembles have toured extensively throughout North America, Europe, and Asia, performing in chamber music venues as well as with symphony orchestras, and have recorded over twenty-five CDs. In 1999 he and the other members of NEXUS were inducted into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame.


Becker was a guest artist with Fringe Percussion in September 2012.

 

  


Beverley Johnston is one of Canada’s leading percussionists. Over the years, she has commissioned and performed many works by leading Canadian composers some of which have become a staple of the standard percussion repertory around the world. In honour of her exemplary commitment to the performance of the music of Canadian composers, she has been awarded the distinction of “Canadian Music Centre Ambassador”.



Beverley performed with Fringe Percussion at the 2018 Day of Percussion hosted by Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

Terry Longshore is a percussionist based in Ashland, Oregon whose genre-crossing work exhibits the artistry of the concert stage, the spontaneity of jazz, and the energy of a rock club. He performs nationally and internationally as a soloist and ensemble member, collaborates with artists working in diverse media, and has premiered and recorded numerous works. He holds bachelor’s degrees in business administration from California State University at Fresno and percussion performance from California State University Sacramento, and earned the master’s and doctoral degrees in contemporary music performance from the University of California, San Diego. He is Professor of Music and Coordinator of the Music Graduate Program at the Oregon Center for the Arts at Southern Oregon University.
